The day before the Main Event

TM: Tiffany Michelle with PokerNews.com, and once again I’m guest hosting Tony G.’s blog, Tony, day one of the main event; it’s a madhouse in here, are you getting excited, are you getting geared up?

Tony G: Yes, it’s unbelievable. It looks like 7000 people, I just got the numbers in from the authorities upstairs. So it’s going to be very exciting, and it’s unbelievable. It’s just so many people from every country - Brazil, Russia, the list just goes on.

TM: And over the last couple of days there’s a little bit of a lull right before the storm, right before the main event starts. What have you been doing? Have you been out? Have you been hitting some parties? Have you been resting up, what have you been doing?

Tony G: I’ve been playing Deuce to Seven, I’ve been playing every tournament, very deep, and I finished up at 2 a.m…. The last hand of the night I got busted in Deuce to Seven. Unfortunately Freddie Deeb drew out on me. I was in good shape, playing well, so every tournament’s been going well. I’ve been very tired, just focusing on the play. It’s been a very tough World Series for me since the results haven’t met my expectations. But the main event is left. And that’s where I can prove my worth

TM: Do you have any kind of ritual tonight before you play the event tomorrow, any kind of thing that you do before you play the main event? Anything that you do to get geared up?

Tony G: Yeah…I’ll be playing tonight… no actually I don’t think about it. I just want to have fun. You know, the key and advice to everybody is when you make it to the main event, just enjoy yourself. Enjoy the experience. And I think you have to play pretty tight because of the chip stacks as World Series. I think the advantage will be to play tight and look for good opportunities instead of looking to force the action as I did last year. So that’s how I’m going to plan on going, to play very solid poker and just enjoy the experience and if I have a good run, I can get through a couple of days and I’ll be right up there.
