Limit Holdem 5k
With 10k in starting chips and a slow structure early, I got to this event one hour and 30 minutes late. That left me down about 500 chips. It seemed to be a pretty good table with good value on the right hand side and I was in good form playing a real tight game. I was waiting for good cards to play; I should call this a safe option. I sometimes use it because if you play more creative, you can play a lot more hands but it’s much harder to play creative so I went for the easy way today.
I just plugged away and reraised with good hands as there were a few players raising a lot and I was using that leverage in limit holdem to isolate the pot heads by putting a reraise and getting the pot heads up. I did not call once today. It was either fold or raise all day, and this works well and it’s an easy way to play limit holdem events. I try to get most pots heads up with me having position and usually the best hand will be huge.
Doing this all day worked for me and I had about 1.5 times the average going into day two. Howard Lederer came to my table and was on my right he had about 12k so that was not a worry for me. But it will be fun as well. We will share the table tomorrow as well and there are still a few weak spots. I am really in good shape to go deep in this one and crack the final table which I really want right now.
Just as things were running in a nice, steady manner, it turned into a monster table. Another table just broke and as a result, table 25 just got tougher. Seats 6-10 were occupied by the following players, in order: Bryan Devonshire, myself, Howard “The Professor” Lederer, David Plastik, and Eli Elezra. The whole picture is scary although I know I will play through it.
David Plastik left us. Eli is a great guy and fun to play with and there are still donkeys about and I feel OK about the picture on table 25.
