Tony G update

A personal update for Tony G….The latest news is that I have been named the World Team Captain to captain the Rest of the World versus America. The tournament is going to happen on the 15th, in Las Vegas, and will be broadcast on Fox Sports. It’s a pretty secret tournament. Its very exciting to be part of this…I don’t know how I got the captain’s chair. I don’t know how I got it, and I don’t know that I deserve it, but I’ll take it. I’ll definitely be the most entertaining guy there. It will be fun to take Phil Ivey, and Howard Lederer on again.

On another note, I just signed a contract with the North American Poker Association. I am looking forward to that. That looks like something huge for poker….this is what we need more of – players getting free entries to $10,000 tournaments, and get their flights and travel paid for. That’s the deal I have, which is fantastic.

I hope things keep going well. It was a great year. I have one more event to play in this year, and then enjoying my time at Christmas, and then we’re back. 2006 will be huge.

Remmember Tony’s phrase in WPT final table in Paris 2004 “Who’s the captain? I am the captain!”? Now it it turned to be reality :)

On the 15th of December at the Palms Casino the rest of the world team will take on USA. The usa team will include Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Howard just to name a few the world team will include Carlos M, Gus Hansen, Marcel Luske and several other big names. I have been given the captaincy, only reason is that I will talk the most even when I am out ( at least they hope so) several Australians will join the world squad the biggest selection is Emad and he will be playing for Mansion.net.

This is how it works every time a player is knocked out by another team 1 point is counted towards the total there will be 40 players on each team. It will be a single table heats with the winner going into the final table. $500,000 is grantees FOX sports is filming it so everyone back home will get to see it I am told.

Is there any way you could post some video or audio clips of you berating your opponents? Do you know of any websites that have footage of your tournaments?

Hey Tony watching you “work” a poker table is a skill that id love to have someday.. The way you psycologically destroy your opponents is truly awesome.. especially those French players.. LOL! ” When you told that guy ” I will take everything you got.. everything” and punched the table… i was on the floor laughing for 20 minutes. I allmost died from the look of total contempt from the player you berated… Your the best of the best!

You are the 1. My absolute poker idol. Ques: when will the ‘bad boys’ wpt thing be televised? I can’t wait to finally see you clean up on the so called ‘world class’ of poker.
YOU are the world class. YOU have the big heart — the dedication to the game. Go 8 - 10!!

    Tony Guoga-

And I say ‘Guoga’ because you have no business having a nickname in the world of poker, hell you don’t don’t any business being a poker player in the first place. You have no place being a captain at any sport. You have the worst sportsmanship I have ever seen in my life. I’ve been playing sports, including hockey, wrestling, and poker since I was 8 years old, and I was ALWAYS taught to have good sportsmanship no matter what. You are a very lucky player, at least you were today. But that’s not the point, because about 20% of poker is luck. I watched you play today on TV when you were in Las Vegas at the Intercontinental Poker Championships. You played decent, however you also played some really stupid hands that could’ve eliminated you very quickly. You kind of reminded me of a beginner. On to other more important things, the way you harassed, and yes, you did HARASS the Russian player that you eliminated, was completely out of line and completely unacceptable for a poker table. When he got up fromt he table and said, “Good hand.” that made you look like a complete idiot. Poker is a competitive, serious, but friendly game, whether you’re winning or losing. It was hilarious to watch you because you were so predictable, ever notice how you always seem to shut your pie-hole when you’re losing, or when you don’t know what to do? I noticed it within the first five minutes of ever watching you. I’ve never seen you play until today, and I’ll admit, you’re not a bad poker p layer, but you’re not very good either. And you’re sportsmanship absolutely sucks. You signing a contract with the North American Poker Association is completely 100% degrading to the game of poker. I hope I’m watching you one day at a poker table and you say something to the wrong person, and I hope that person has no class and no respect for poker, just as you don’t seem to, and knocks you out right on national television. And the North American Poker Association will soon have high regrets for hiring you as a poker player, if that’s what you even call yourself. You’re a great poker player huh? Finishing 30th and never seeing you on television during the 2004 World Series of Poker; hell not even knowing your name until 2006 is direct proof of your inability to play and respect the game, and you degrading comments at the table. It’s rediculous even watching you on national television. Feel free to email me anytime with your comments.
